Organised by the Siglap South CC Youth Executive Committee, Kindness Week 2015 is an outreach campaign consisting of a series of activities held from 18th to 26th April 2015.
Initiated in 2011, it is one of the key events by Siglap South CC YEC. While the specific aims for each year may differ, Kindness Week revolves around the central theme of spreading kindness, albeit in different ways.
In conjunction with SG50 celebrations, Siglap South CC YEC took the opportunity to appreciate and recognize all Singaporeans’ contributions in nation building. Kindness Week 2015 adopted the theme Pillars of the Community where they advocated the showing of appreciation for those who serve the community. Among those acknowledged include foreign workers, cleaners, social workers, educators, transport staff and healthcare professionals. By highlighting their efforts, Siglap South CC YEC hope that Singaporeans would be better able to recognize and appreciate those who work silently to make Singapore a home for all of us.
Activities from Kindness Week 2015 included a food donation drive, where collected items will be donated to beneficiaries under TWC2; appreciation session for social workers; outings with migrant workers; affirmation of efforts of the foreign worker and public service groups; and neighbourhood bonding makan session.
